The Cascade · Lower to Upper
Seven mountain lakes, seven shades of water, strung along the Shing valley. We follow them from the lowest to the highest, stopping for views, tea, and photos along the way.
The first lake of the route: clear turquoise water and a gentle, welcoming entrance into the Haft Kul valley. Warm enough for a quick swim in summer.
A calm, mirror-like surface set among slopes and orchards. Named for the limited sun it gets deep in the narrow valley, its water shifts blue to violet.
A deeper shade of water and the first sweeping panoramic views over the winding mountain gorge.
A long, quiet high-mountain stop with clean air and a feeling of seclusion. The valley guesthouses cluster near here, where the water often turns reddish.
The smallest of the seven, tucked between the slopes near Padrut village: charming for its intimate, almost secret atmosphere and deep quiet.
The most famous and photogenic lake of the cascade: almost 3 km of light-blue water beneath wide, open mountain views. The road ends near here.
The highest point of the journey, fed by countless springs and ringed by rugged peaks and summer pastures. Reached on a short walk beyond lake six.
Lakes 1-6 are reached by road; the highest, Hazorchashma, needs a short walk. How far up the valley we go depends on road and weather conditions on the day.
WikipediaJartepa–Sarazm
This is an international day trip. Travelers cross the Jartepa–Sarazm checkpoint on foot and meet the coordinated vehicle on the other side.
Pack for a long cross-border day and changing mountain conditions.
The route is sightseeing-focused, with long driving periods, border formalities, mountain roads, and optional short walks.
Both options use local coordination; the right choice depends on budget and flexibility.
| Feature | Shared group tour | Private tour |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $60 per traveler | Priced for your party |
| Schedule | Fixed shared timing | More flexible timing |
| Travel party | Up to 20 travelers | Only your party |
| Departure | Needs 3 confirmed travelers total | Confirmed for your party |
Choose the private option when flexibility and an exclusive vehicle matter more than the shared price.

Our experience in Tajikistan was exceptional from beginning to end. Every transfer was seamless and comfortable, and each destination was carefully chosen to showcase the country's remarkable beauty and character.
They arranged for a driver to meet us at the border in Panjakent and drive us all the way across to the Fergana valley. I would recommend this agency: they are reliable.
I could not recommend Navruz and his team enough. What a welcome to the beautiful country of Tajikistan! The tour was great value with service clearly better than the other tours we saw in the mountains.
We had a great time in Seven Lakes in Tajikistan. Communication with Navruz was very good; together we customised the day to our wishes. The car was clean, the driver really good, and our guide spoke fluent English.
Excellent tour that went above and beyond all expectations. They were waiting at the border and gave us all the time we wanted at the lakes to hike, explore, and take pictures.
Amazing experience, all organized by Navruz. It was very smooth and all was perfectly arranged for our trip. Navruz is really the best guide if you want to see Tajikistan.
